Kate Purmal

Kate is an entrepreneur and corporate executive with a track record of launching new companies and business ventures. Prior to joining Proteus she was SVP and General Manager of the newly formed Digital Content Business Unit at SanDisk. She joined SanDisk after founding and running U3, a software joint venture between SanDisk and M-Systems. Prior to U3, Kate founded and ran Driver Group, a management and strategy consulting firm. Her clients included Intuit, Hewlett-Packard, Handspring, Palm Inc., CBS, Clorox, SanDisk, and dozens of start-ups.

In 1992, Kate joined Palm Computing as a founding team member where she built and ran the Product Marketing and Strategic Alliance organizations, launched the Palm Pilot, and grew the company from five to more than 300 employees and $300 Million in revenue.

Kate is the former President of Women in Consulting, a non-profit organization for independent consultants. She was voted one of Silicon Valley Business Journal's Most Influential Women in Business in 2003 and one of the Top 25 Women Redefining Success. She has been profiled in the Wall Street Journal, USA Today, the New York Times, Inc. Magazine, CXO America Magazine, Working Mother, Working Woman, and the San Jose and San Francisco Business Journals.

Kate has a BA in Applied Mathematics from the University of California, San Diego.
